FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • Do those beautiful glass bottles arrive in one peace at the destination when they are shipped with the parcel post?
Certainly, we will send them in tried-and-tested packaging that can withstand anything they encounter through the mail. Should any breach occur, we will send new olive oil free of charge.

  • Will the orders be sent all the way from Spain?
No, we let a transport company bring our olive oil from La Fresneda to our warehouse in Lekkerkerk. From the stock in Lekkerkerk the orders are then shipped.

  • Can I also buy your olive oil in a specialty store?
Yes, that's possible. In Lekkerkerk, where we also have our warehouse, you can taste and buy our olive oil at the deli-shop "William de Kaasboer".

  • Is it bad if the olive oil has been cold and there are flakes in it?
No, this can not be harmful and does not affect quality. As soon as the oil is completely back to temperature, the flakes disappear.

  • Is it bad if there is sediment in the bottle?
No, no problem. These are just minuscule pieces of fruit and pit that fall to the bottom.

  • Is the oil of El Príncipe Verde from the first press?
Certainly, we just do not put it on the bottle because nowadays this term does not mean anything anymore because there is only one press. Besides, our olive oil is not pressed, but centrifuged.

  • Is the oil of El Príncipe Verde cold pressed?
Yes, our olive oil is cold pressed. We can not label this alone because our mill does not use a measurement system that stores the temperatures during the production process, which you can then officially show that it is cold pressed.

  • Are you picking your olives by hand?
Yes, you could say that, but we do use mechanization. Hand picked is a little overcrowded term. It gives the impression that that is the only correct way, and that mechanization is bad. This is absolutely not true, it's just important to care for the product at every stage of the production. Also, depending on the type of olive, the olives are or aren't sensitive to certain facets of the harvest. With us no sweet talk and misleading terms, we just go for maximum quality.

  • Is olive oil really that healthy?
Yes, it is very healthy. There are a number of positive health effects, but the main fact is that it's rich in polyphenols, omega-3 fatty acids and vitamin E. This means olive oil is; Anti-oxidant, anti-inflammatory and cholesterol lowering. In general, it is good for heart and blood vessels and the digestive tract.

The dog days are approaching and with it the warmest period of the year. The olive trees have been able to prepare reasonably well with the rain that fell recently, but it could have been more. They can use it well because so far it looks like we're in for a good harvest. The trees are chock full of growing olives!
